PostSubject: MechWarrior Online?   Mon Jan 25, 2016 4:13 am

Do any of you fags play MechWarrior Online?

I'm fucking bored to death since I quit CL.. and, since CL started, CB has been overrun with the worst kind of lagging shits, so I haven't been playing that at all.

I haven't started MWO, I've just been looking for some other MMO to play.

I browsed Steam for hours and couldn't really find anything currently out that I was excited about. I played MW4 for years and I've played Battletech since the 90s.

I looked at Hawken, but it seems like there are a lot of hackers on it and the developer's don't give a flying fuck.. so fuck Hawken.

I read that you need garage spaces for each mech in MWO and you can only get those by paying in actual cash.. and they have no offer wall.. so I'm still up in the air about it.

(I sincerely with you shits hadn't perma-banned Milez. I think he has actual experience with it. Also, fuck anyone who gets their feels hurt; that's fucking weak; toughen the fuck up.)

this isn't too bad depending on how it works

if you need one everytime you get a new mech then its bad but if you can sell the mechs you dont need anymore then you can work with the few you spaces you have
(i dont play mechwarrior online so can't exactly say how it works)

this is from my experience on a game with a similar system (world of warships), where you have 8 slots (though i always have 4 already used up for one of each type of ship) but everytime you upgrade to a higher lvl ship you can sell the lower lvl one and free up that slot

Downloaded it.. played the tutorial for a half of an hour.. the tutorial bugged out.. exited tutorial.. restarted tutorial from the beginning.. played the tutorial to completion for a half an hour..

..tried to do a fight called community warfare.. no fights were currently happening, so there goes 10 minutes of staring at a screen, waiting for a battle to never happen..

..no servers available, can only play with matchmaking.. played three matches wherein the entire team scattered like rice thrown into the wind while the enemy team stayed together.. at no point did anyone on the team talk in voice chat or text chat..

..went into the Mechlab (garage) and went to buy a mech.. to get all the bonuses for a mech, you have to buy three variants of one mech and fully level them up.. you only have four garage slots for mechs and more slots only come from real money or doing CW, that no one was doing..

..bought a mech.. can't afford to customize it.. can't paint it at all because all paints are for real cash only..

..played a few more matches.. still no communication at all.. every match is versus a cooperating team with what seems to be fully customized mechs while I'm always on a team that has no idea what they're doing..

..uninstalled..

Shit game 2/10 would not recommend..

..still bored to death.. I think I'm dying.. everytime I stand up on my feet I get vertigo and fall down.. I think I'm starting to hate being alive.. I wonder how much discomfort would be involved going out with alcohol and sleeping pills.. or what kind of sleeping pills are required.. I slept sixteen hours last night.. everything seems like a waking dream..

Guess Ill do a video on my setup only 80 hours in or so so what I have is easy to get and customize. You can customize mechs with out having four versions the U.I. is just not explaining much. Those are extra bonuses you get from 4 mechs.

First off community warfare is no place for a noob its very very complicated and not  a normal game mode I have yet to take part in it. My atlas as good as it is would get rofl stomped there. Community warfare is filled with premade 12 man groups.

No one communicates because everyone usually knows what to do.

I have so much shit to patch in mwo that reinstalling the game woulda been faster...

Well, I got really, really bored, so I reinstalled it..

.. and now I'm hooked.

I figured out that their matchmaking system actually matches you with people around your rank, which was why my first several matches involved teams that sucked really bad; they were all new, just like me.

The CW is a lot like what we ran on the Sunder Junkies MW4 server, except you have to wait 15-30 minutes for each match.. but, it's totally worth the wait, because you get like 500k for a good match.. and 800k if you win.

I'm currently doing 7 day contracts with each faction, getting to rank 2 for the mechbay and then buying my contract out. I'll do that until I get all the free-and-easy mechbays.. then I think I'll nose around for a good home. I'm leaning towards Kurita, mainly because their mechs are all snazzy-red. Fuck camouflage, I'd rather look stylish in my coffin.

I even liked the game so much that I invested money into it. I bought an Atlas mastery pack to get the Boar's Head mech with the +30% money bonus.

Oh, and I found out that you can get paints for your mechs without paying cash, their UI just doesn't have a sort by Cbills (regular in-game money) feature. The "basic" paints may be purchased by free players, which is awesome. (I still bought some more stylish colors.)

My new controller came in the mail, yesterday.. I got an old PS1 Ascii Grip, still unused in the box. It's a one handed controller that has a Dpad and ten buttons. That and my five button gaming mouse gives me all the buttons that I need.

I'd add you as a steam friend but I can't add friends on steam. (I haven't put any money into my steam wallet.. IDK why the Mechwarrior packs on steam suck so bad.. They should have just put up mastery packs for sale.. The steam packs don't even have 3 of a mech, and you need 3 to get full XP bonuses on a chassis.)

My IGN is AnTi90d, same as every game for the past 18 years.

In October I received the MB/processors/video card and a SATA HDD as a gift from an exceptionally generous guy I met on Voat.co. He worked at a telecom business and said that he just had it laying around in a pile of old hardware, except for the video card and it was his old one. It stemmed from me asking a question in their technology section about where was the best place to get an AGP video card. (My video card had just died and I'd been shopping around for another one.)

I'm on an Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 (2.66ghz) with a Geforce 260 GTX. It kicks ass to be able to play recent games, again. (I'm currently finishing my Oblivion playthrough, then I'll move on to FO3:New Vegas and then see if I can get a stable framerate in Skyrim and FO4.) I'm still using 32bit Win7, which is the next thing I need to upgrade. Warhammer has put out a lot of games and they're all 64 bit or GTFO.

-----

I'm kind of regretting getting the Atlases. I wanted them because they have the only IS assault class mech with ECM.. (the D-DC,) but I didn't consider that the arms are low and wide, with all the energy mounts on the arms. If I'm not shooting the tops of hills, I'm shooting the sides of buildings or the backs of friendly medium mechs that wandered in front of me.. I have 10m saved up and I'll be buying two more Catapults, tomorrow, to go with my K2 that I already had.. if they don't put something irresistible on sale for the weekend.

Srms and auto cannons do the bulk of the damage in my atlas build.

Btw i give you the dumbest timberwolf player ever. He could did some damage to my atlas but chose to be a dumb ass.

I would have broke both those mechs in 2 had they fougth me but at least they would have did some damage and maybe took out the light supporting me cutting down my firepower for that game.

Also atlas is best built as a brawler trying to make him long range capable outside of lasers for defense and pressuring purposes is going to hind his performance. I am really pushing it using ER large lasers inplace of regular large lasers.

Also using a Ultra ac 5 and a ac5 gives me slightly better dps than a ac20 plus more range and ammo ^_^.

I may give this a try since I don't really have much else to do, and what you said about it thus far looks promising (Along with the gameplay BT posted).

OK, I'll lay out some general advice.

There are two groups in MW, the Inner Sphere and the Clans. If you play, it's more efficient (in your first few months, at least,) to pick one and stick with it. If you buy IS mechs, you can't use them in Community Warfare if you're with the Clans.

I picked Inner Sphere, mainly because Clan technology is extremely expensive (in-game money wise.. it's like the difference in mechs that cost you 9 million dollars and 18 million dollars.)

You need 3 different types of one mech chassis to fully level up your XP with that mech. Like, if you pick up a Blackjack, you need to buy three different blackjacks and level each of them up to unlock high level bonuses for all of your Blackjacks.

Paint that you can buy with in-game money is listed under Basic. If you don't paint your mechs, they're just going to be pea-soup green. However, painting your mechs will get people to target you instead of other people. (It makes you look like a bigger threat, since you put enough effort into the game to not look like a day-1 newbie.)

http://metamechs.com/ Has some really good information. It isn't the word of a god, but the opinions of a few veterans of the game. That site will help you pick out what mechs to buy in the future and what to do with them.

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab is this game's version of the Cosmic Calc.

Lasers usually > most everything else. They don't run out of ammo and you don't have to worry about projectile speed, as they instantly hit. However, they have a duration and you have to hold the target on them for about a half of a second to get their full damage. Also, shooting weapons heats you up and shooting lasers heats you up a lot more than other weapons. Your mech loses heat over time and it loses more with the more heatsinks that it has in it.

Each mech has quirks. When you hover a mouse over a mech, there will be green text at the bottom telling you what bonuses that chassis gets. Like.. some mechs have increased energy weapon range.. or reduced missile cooldown.. or increased ballistic projectile velocity.

Mechs that have their weapons really high up on the bot are usually more useful than mechs with low weapons. I run an Atlas (Fatlas.. lol.. it's 100 tons, which is the maximum weight any mech can have.) The biggest problem that I have with it is hitting hills in front of me instead of what I'm targeting. If I'm walking over a hill, I have to clear the hill with half of my mech before my arm weapons can shoot over it. Something like a Blackjack, Jaegermech or a Rifleman can pretty much shoot over the hill as soon as they can see over it, only exposing the very top of their bot.

Using Trial mechs is a good way to see what type of bot you like. Some are fast, some are heavily armored, some have tons of weapons.. Also, trial mechs will change in availability over time.

People will tell you to stay out of Community Warfare (faction play) while you're new. Fuck them; playing faction play will net you tons and tons of money for little effort. So what if you and your team loses, you win in the end by scoring tons of money. Just listen to the people in voice chat, if people are talking.

MWO uses a push to talk button. It took me two weeks of thinking people were just ignoring me until I figured out that I wasn't pushing the button to talk.

The controls are really weird. You can map buttons to a controller / keyboard / mouse. Personally, I use a controller in my left hand and a six button gaming mouse in my right.

Once you are more familiar with the game, go into settings and turn off arm lock. This will allow your arm weapons (not your torso weapons) to aim away from your crosshair. It's the only way to shoot up mountains or down into valleys.

Stay with your team. You'll earn more xp and money if you live long enough to do some damage. If you run forward and die in the first few minutes of a match, you'll earn next to nothing. People will spawn into the match in three groups of four people. Don't run off, even if your group (your lance) decides to run off into oblivion. If my lance starts going away from the core group, I won't hesitate to leave them and join my main army.

Alright thanks. I'll poke around sometime tomorrow when I wake up, for now I'll start the download while I'm sleeping and then update the launcher (if it has one, I'm sure it does) while I'm at work.

Lasers are not that great. Unless you are using clantech. Theirs more than just building laser builds. My atlas out dps timber wolves and king crabs in close combat due to its ballistic weapons.

The mwo site you used is good its what I used to build my atlas.

This game is fun, except LRM AFK and cancer clan laser boats.
