PostSubject: New and could really use some help, like a lot.   Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:01 am

Hi everyone.
Just started playing a few days ago, done the tutorial and a few arena matches. Leveled up a few bots and looked at a few builds on the web to get an idea of where i want to go.

However, this is where the problems start. SOme of these questions may be really stupid however I would be really grateful for answers.
Some sidenotes if it helps answering the questions (Playstyle wise so far I like air, melee and partially art, mostly air though)

1.     What are "locked" parts on bots and how do I see if the parts are locked or not?

2.     Are all available weapons, parts and bots in the store or do some have to be looted/crafted?

3      What are "custom" made bots?

4.     What type of AIR builds are there and what would you recommend ?(Difficulty doesn't matter as long as its fun to play (is subjective i know)) if possible with a                             .       guide link or description. Youtube clips showing the gameplay would be very much appreciated.

5. I've seen some people instantly refill the boost bar, how does this work?

6.      How does deconstructing work?

7.      What should I do to progress? Keep playing arena or is there anything else?

Thanks in advance for your answers
Cheers SoulsSin

Welcome. Staying in either Legion Union Wars (2nd tab in the Arena menu) or in rank-restricted/Battle Rating 5.0 and below rooms are your best option being completely new to CB, as normal union war rooms are extremely unforgiving to new players even if you have the latest bots.

1. Locked parts are just as they sound - They are locked to the bot and can never be removed or changed. You can identify if a part is locked as it will have a dark gray box around it with a circle next to it. Depending on the part (ie: some modern-day moe bots' legs) can still be tuned up with extra effects, while others (Such as the HD (head) of very old moe bots like Shino Exroad and LazFlamme) cannot.

Here's something to help you identify locked parts vs non-locked parts:

2. The most basic weapons are in the shop, but a good portion of advanced weapons are in the Garapon system. This includes available robots too. A very select few of weapons (Such as Evil Halberds) can only be dropped by playing in any of the 3 game modes (Arenas, Missions and Quests).

3. "Custom bot" can refer to any bot that has at least one part changed from it's stock output. For example, a Katana Max with it's HD replaced with an Accele Saber HD can be considered a "custom bot", but most people think of custom bots as bots that are completely unique from their normal function.

4. There are a few different AIR type builds - The most popular (but time consuming) route to go is to be an "Alpha air", which means that you hold a lot of weapons (A bare minimum of 4 is standard, but you can potentially have up to 12 guns at a time if you use Lupette/Asura AMJs and Thoarla LGs) and fire all of them at the same time at someone. This requires preparation as first you need a robot that at least has the cartridge called "Moving Burst", and on almost every bot doesn't become available until the robot is at least level 9. This way you can deal more damage to your target by barraging them with many low-force weapons to have a similar effect of having a single high force damaging weapon (Such as a Mega Lightning Gun).

There are also builds you can do with single held weapons, but these are much harder to do because you're not pushing out as much damage as alpha strikers do, and this is why they are less popular.

Examples of both an Alpha Air build and a Single Handheld build:

---

5. These days a LOT of Boosters (BS) or robot cores from the Garapon will have the ability. There are so many I can't list them all, but usually only AIRs have them. It works via a sub-weapon ability (Right clicking) and since most AIRs aren't melee AIRs it doesn't get in the way of being conveniently there for use when you need it.

6. Deconstructing means tearing down a bot in order to give it better parts OR cartridges. To do this you can either replace the old parts of a bot with new, better parts - Or junk it entirely. You can junk a bot by clicking on it ONCE in your main garage then selecting the Junk option at the top of the garage screen, just under the Arena button. Junking a bot has the benefit of resetting it's levels so you can start fresh again if you messed up, but you'll have to re-level it again. If you're lucky you can occasionally get a "Cartridge Reset" item from certain garapons - As the name suggests you can reset the levels on your robot, but the current EXP will be retained so you can immediately reselect cartridges without having to re-level it.

7. Initially you might want to either train in Legion Union Wars or Missions. Ranking up holds little benefits for how long it can take to rank up (Getting to the final rank requires 60,000 rank points alone from the 2nd highest rank). Ranking up isn't as impmortant as learning how to survive and be good at the game, so doing legion union wars and missions on either normal or hard difficulty to start is a good way to learn the game without being frustrated at you dying too easily in other areas.

Just going to elaborate on a few of the questions:

@Astral_Dono wrote:

The cane is not locked, which means you can remove it anytime, while the AM and crow are "screwed" dead in place.

Some weapons can also be found in Lotto Cubes, and a small group of weapons are event-exclusive. If you somehow acquired a robot with a weapon bundled in (Elcott's ELC Gun for example), you would find said weapon in the Parts section of the shop.
And no, this game doesn't have a crafting system.

@Astral_Dono wrote:

Additionally, some of the AIRs can literally sap your boost gauge with their guns via a mechanism known as steal boost.

And before you ask about the colored glow next to the parts, those are tune ups. They either increase your robot's stats (HP/STR/TEC/WLK/FLY/TGH) or increase your weapon's stats (force/ammo/range/speed). Yellow works exactly the same as blue, except it increases your robot's HP as well. Tuning up your robot increases its cost, thereby limiting its equipping options. Try this website to emulate tuning up.
A tune up can only be performed if the selected part have a free slot in it, denoted in gray. If the tune up fails, the slot cracks or fills up and cannot be used for tune ups (unless the slot happens to be that of a locked part, in which you could simply junk your robot and start over again, since when you do so all slots will be emptied). Currently there is no way to increase slots available in a part.
Most tune ups involve maxing out STR or TEC and pushing WLK/FLY to 38, depending on your robot. Doing so greatly increases your survivability in today's Arena.

Friendly reminder: If you have tickets, roll it.

Thanks a lot for this. Really lightens up the whole game a bit.

However what is the "Garapon" system you mentioned?
And would you by chance know any good guide for an Alpha or Single handheld build? I can't seem to find any even on the forums (or maybe I don't know what to search for E.g. Bor names/ weapon names)

How do you not rank up? Is this dependent on the equiptment I use or on the bot level? If yes should I just not level up my bots ?

Much appreciated. From what you say the "tuning" seems like a more endgame thing to do but thanks for mentioning it anyway. The website you linked is really neat, thanks.

What do you mean with roll tickets if you have them?

Garapon is in the shop, it'll be the bottom left tab on the top right of the shop screen. Whenever you spin a garapon beware of the animations that come after you do a spin.

There are 3 animations:

-The "superfly" animation which is when the little character runs on a treadmill with a cape and flies into the sky. This animation means you can get any prize in the garapon list (with luck of course).

-Then there's the "car crash" animation in which the character drives a car and crashes. This animation means you can only get silver prizes or below (with luck of course).

-Then there's the "derp walk" animation. This is the worst, since the character jumps over lightning bolts on a treadmill, meaning you can only get bronze or below prizes (with luck).

Press F2 or shop button, there should be a Garapon button (look like a pokeball)
basically it's a vending machine which give you random prize (gold, silver, bronze, red, blue) gold usually best prize there

These guides should be good for you

About the not ranking up. How do you not rank up? Is it just not leveling up your bots?

You cant really stop ranking up unless you stop going arena, rank points is alway achieve whenever you done any of 3 game modes (Arenas, Missions and Quests), some event-base rooms doesnt reward rank pts however
Level up your bot has nothing to do with the rank, they are completety 2 difference thing Smile

welp i think this is good example

yellow is extune , limit at 10 slot per bot , and they consume a lot of resource and uc
(welp for end game)

blue is normal stats tune

red is weapon tunes

and that crack is broken slot
you see , if you fail tuning , the slot become broken and unusable

there still no way that can fix with this , but you can still prevent it by using protectors
(or if it are locked parts , you can junk and start over again)

welp this is my sadness ....

oh and ppl still not mention , another thing you need to know is the breakpoints

http://www.cosmicbreakfanforum.com/t13442-stat-movement-cart-breakpoints

by knowing breakpoints will help you a lot for tuning plan
and another note , dont make walk or fly less than 1

Ah i see. All clear now. Much appreciated.

One last question though. What should I build / save for. Or how do I determine that. ( I think something like a Alpha air or long range air build seems fun, haven't heard of any short range high damage variants anyway but that would work too. Basicly AIR+Mobility or AIR+High damage(dps or burst)) In the guide section of this forum there are quite a few guides on air builds but most of them don't even show the build in action and just list weapon names and bot names, half of them I have never heard of which kinda makes it hard to see how the build plays. Cheers if you know anything =)

breakpoint are where it show its significant effects
like fly bp
28, 31, 34, 38
there's no difference between 31~33 , they are all same as 31, only when you reaching 34 fly it will actually fly faster, knowing stat bp will let you make an effecient build

Breakpoints are set points in stats where it is optimal to have said stat, as the performance increases more noticably compared to other stats.

For example, since you like AIR units, the last 3 FLY stat breakpoints you want to get are 31, 34, and 38. It's not recommended you go over those as they will not have much of any improvement on their speed (For example, 33 FLY will be more like 31 FLY, and 37 FLY will be more like 34 FLY, and 40 FLY will be like 38 FLY). The last 3 WLK breakpoints, since I listed FLY ones, are 28, 32, and 36.

The STR and TEC "breakpoints" are different depending on the weapon you're using, but most of the time doesn't matter because almost all the time you want 40 STR or TEC for your build regardless of what weapon you are using.

TGH is a tricky stat to tune as usually tuning it will lower your FLY or WLK, which is a bad thing to have happen if you want a mobile unit. A bare minimum TGH value of 12 is useful in today's meta. 16 would probably be a better one to have but is harder to achieve depending on the bot you're using. Just in case you don't know, TGH determines how much damage you take when you're being hit by multiple attacks and reduces how much you get "tripped" when you're attacked while running (Which is called being stunned). Naturally a higher TGH makes it so you take less multiples of damage and you trip less often.

For more information to see all of the different breakpoints, go here.

tl;dr if you're not at a "breakpoint" then you'll have the same amount of speed as the previous breakpoint

example:

if you're trying to get to a breakpoint of 36 wlk speed, and the next best walk speed breakpoint is 32, and you tune 34 wlk speed, you'll still have the same speed as 32 wlk until you hit the next breakpoint which is 36. (these are example numbers and may not be accurate for all types)

Oh right you also asked about what he should save for. Since you like AIR types I will give you some areas of interest to look for in the shop (NOT garapon).

UC bots/parts:

Rt bots/parts (requires you to pay real world money):

You, sir (or women no offense intended) are a god. Thank you so much this is perfect. Made my day (or night and made my gf really pissed Wink )

Btw, I picked Crimrose as one of my 3 starter bots. Does that one count as a "normal" version?

Rt bots/parts (requires you to pay real world money):

I'm not sure if I'm missing something but it seems to be possible to buy the stardust cannon in the shop for UC (6.3k)
Is Seraph Crimrose a M sized and I can build stardust / negatron rifle on her aswell or does she stay S type and if she does what weapons would one put on her?

On a sidenote If i deconstruct a locked bot with a special module, say the flight recharge or a built in weapon, do i get to use those on other bots then or not ?

Yeah I have a dick. If me helping you  makes your girlfriend pissed you should check into what exactly made her mad.

Btw, I picked Crimrose as one of my 3 starter bots. Does that one count as a "normal" version?
No. That is the 100k UC one, and that one can only be evolved with the Seraph Promotion "FC" found in the UC Gara DX. You need 2k UC to roll it once, 8k for 5 rolls at a time, and 32k for 20 at a time. Be warned that the drop rate for it is VERY low; people have reported dropping over 1 million UC into it and never getting it.

No, she remains forever a S-sized bot. Ballista Shooter is going to be your preferred weapon at that point - Alternatively you can do just fine with a Plasma Gun as well. Also even if she WAS a M-sized bot, she STILL wouldn't be able to hold a Stardust Cannon because those are "LL" sized, meaning they can only be held by L-size bots like Gwyain and Aquila.

So while searching youtube for some Air type builds I came across this one: on youtube.com/watch?v=1UTQyvC07J0 ( I can't post links till 7 days so I hope this works)
I assume TH stands for Thailand so I don't know if they have the same version as we do. But is something like that possible on Crimrose or Izuna Kamui Nagi or Pacifar? If yes which one would be best suited for that? If no is it possible on CBEN and if yes with which kind of Bot? What weapon is she/he using?

And I found some people talking about "whisp spammers" on the forums (usually with negative comments) What are whisp spammers? Do they mean Izunas built in weapon? And why the negativity ?

And since you mentioned Air Raider and Psycho Cluster, is it possible to build a bot that focuses on the built in weapon? as in is it at least decent?

And if I'm asking too many question don't hesitate to tell me.
so many "and"s o.O
