Terra Battle is a free-to-play mobile game by Mistwalker. It features game design by Hironobu Sakaguchi and music by Nobuo Uematsu, both of Final Fantasy fame, and artwork by Kimihiko Fujisaka, of The Last Story and Drakengard fame. Other well-known artists are scheduled to contribute content according to the Download Starter. Currently available on both iOS and Android.

Starting Out

You start with 2 of three characters:

Squads, Job Changing, and Job Skills

Named Units in Terra Battle can be advanced with the right combination of items and coins. Once a unit is advanced, they unlock a new set of Job Skills that they can learn. Note that you will still need to gather the necessary experience to use and unlock these new Job Skills in battle.

Combat


The main goal of combat is to flank enemy units with units of your own:
 

Correctly lining other units up with one of the attacking units allows them to attack:
 

The numbers on the top right corner of enemy units denotes how many more turns you have until they have until they can move and/or attack.

The player's turn starts once you move any unit and lasts for 4 seconds. You can only move one unit per turn. Passing through allied units makes them shift places with you (passing a unit from the left makes them shift over to the left one space as you continue through them) however, so with enough planning and speed, you can set up several attacks in one turn

The Circle of Carnage

Units are broken into four types, sword, archer, spear, and magic. Sword type does additional damage to archer type, archer type does additional damage to spear type, and spear type does additional damage to sword type. Mage types are generally weaker, but have more powerful AOE attacks and other special spells/abilities.

Summoning/The Tavern

You are able to add more units to your squad (up to a total of 6 at once) through forming pacts (done inside the Tavern) and/or through completing battles. Pacts are split into two different versions:

Energy

Energy functions as a way to either revive you after after reaching a game over (you must have 2 units to fight), form Pacts of Truth, or to replenish Stamina. You get one from completing each node on the map (and for logging in apparently). Your main use of these will be forming Pacts of Truth.

Stamina

Stamina determines how many missions you can attempt. The cost for each mission varies, though stamina recovers naturally at one point every five minutes. Stamina can be fully replenished for one energy point. Each new player starts with the ability to have a maximum of 20 stamina. Completing one node on the map both increases your stamina cap and refills it to it's maximum.


Download Starter

The Download Starter is a project where the number of downloads for Terra Battle determines content being unlocked such as artists creating new art, new game modes, and the production of books and action figures.
It's reached 800k downloads so far:

Friend Codes

Currently there is no friend code system, however one is on the way, along with Co-op modes among other things.

i look at some character artworks and most of them replace part of their body with some artifact looking thing after add class(or job change?) look a bit weird....

With the release of Bahamut, players recieve 5 more Energy, bringing the amount you can start with for free up to 15 (not including free log-in Energy per day).
Not sure how long the event lasts though

Guess I'll bump this, since there's co-op and friend referral system now.

joining private rooms rewards you with some energy or something. Sucks that friend referral is capped at 10 people though. While the prizes for joining private rooms I think is capped at 20.
