I don't hate you Koiro.. even though the games that you love are utter shit, to me.

Long live Sonic 2 and its debug mode.

I am only interested in females that are younger than I and don't have tattoos and aren't fat and have an IQ greater than 100. (Hah.. IQ greater than 100 and female.. seems like an oxymoron, here in America.)

Implying that cooking, cleaning, and sex require intelligence.

Because 2d sonic games are so great...Not really they are over rated way over rated decent but not anywhere near great one could easily make the argument they are not good.

You are probably as bad as those "classic" CS fags that can't even come up with a decent excuse of why their "classic" game with shit graphics is better than Source or Globabl Offensive.

Legend of Zelda was better in 2D. Mario was better in 2D. However, shooters are always better with updated graphics. I remember the first two Doom games; they sucked ass. Wolfenstein 3D was shit. Mechwarrior was awful, until MW4.

Those are games, so they aren't really 3d.

2D Mario is superior because the controls were tighter and the level design was simplistic yet challenging. I've played 3D Mario games and the controls are always unresponsive and wonky and the camera keeps finding its way into some terrible angle.

2D Mario = good controls, predictable camera
3D Mario = terrible controls, drunken and wandering camera

LoZ was better in 2D, isometric view, because it had more puzzle content and less wandering around, looking at art. 2D isometric Zeldas are about solving puzzle after puzzle and less about combat with enemies. Most mobs you could just swipe away and get back to solving the puzzle. When the game transitioned to 3D, (just like what they tried to pull off with the 2D sidescrolling LoZ 2,) it added more action and prettier graphics, but reduced the number and complexity of the puzzles in the game.

2D isometric Zelda = more puzzles
3D Zelda (and LoZ 2) = more action

I don't see how doing puzzles makes Zelda better. If it was puzzles 24/7 I would have never touched the game tbh. Can't say you aren't right with Mario tho. Still, the only 3D Mario game I have played is Mario Sunshine.

Ill give you the 2d mario but the zelda one comes down to preference.

I agree. I forgot to mention that in my tirade. I'd rather play that shitty, monochromatic GamBoy version than any 3D Metroid. Game designers destroyed the traditional platform game by trying to make everything beautiful. More devs should learn the lesson of Castlevania:SOTN. People will still buy 2D games if they have good content.

Mario Sunshine was actually pretty well polished. Super Mario 64, while revolutionary due to its experimentation with 3D, was flat out terrible in terms of mechanics; the camera jumped around, frequently got stuck in one place, and this made even basic gameplay distracting, frustrating, or even impossible in some cases.

As for Zelda, while I agree that the original 2D titles were great for their puzzles, it is still, like BT said, a matter of preference. And having played Skyward Sword, I am completely enamored by the new direction they're taking LoZ; because LoZ:SS was marketed to older/more experienced gamers, they were able to include much better puzzles and also repeatedly play off the nostalgia value of the previous Zelda games that their demographic had played.

Points taken, although, personally, if I want to run around with a sword in a 3D world, I pick up an Elder Scrolls game. I think they did well what the new Zelda games wanted to do, before they even wanted to do it.

Which reminds me.. I've got to download Oblivion again. I never did finish that game. (My old PC's HDD died and I lost everything.) I'd really like to get Skyrim, but this computer would explode before it would let me play that game. (I seriously need to upgrade.. everything..)

The translations in that game are laughably bad. Like, "all your base are belong to us" bad.

The Elder Scrolls modding community hasn't fixed it, yet? One of my favorite things about that franchise was the modding community and their ability to add content and fix bugs.

I noticed people either love Skyrim or think it sucks.

I like Skyrim quite a bit, though I favorite Oblivion over it. I was a bit disappointed in the quest line of The Dark Brotherhood compared to the one of Oblivion. The Thieves Guild quest line was kinda shit too compared to Oblivion's... It felt like they were way too short.
