PostSubject: RIP DFO   Wed Apr 03, 2013 12:32 am

Reminder that something like this will happen to Cosmic Break.

Quote :
We understand that you have many questions about the shutdown procedure for DFO. Please refer to this FAQ to answer any questions you may have.

Q: Why is DFO shutting down?

A: We regret to announce that we are terminating NxA’s service of DFO to focus on enhancing our other game offerings. We will begin a ramp-down of the game on April 11, 2013, with the closing of the cash shop. Full service will terminate on June 13, 2013. To thank you for your commitment to DFO, we would like to offer you compensation for the purchase of Permanent, Durational and Consumable items purchased within the past six months.

Q: Will DFO continue to be available on Steam?

A: No. Full service will terminate on June 13, 2013.

Q: Are you planning on terminating service of any other NxA games?

A: We have not announced any other game closures in North America.

Q: Will we be receiving any type of compensation for this?

A: You will receive your compensation package after we have concluded our maintenance on April 11, 2013. We will compensate the purchase of Permanent, Durational and Consumable items purchased within the past six months. The dollar value is correlated with the time of purchase. Please note that this compensation is non-transferable.

Q: What is going to happen to the items I just bought?

A: Players who purchased Permanent Items 30 days prior to the closure of the Item Shop will receive 100 percent of the value of that item in NX. If players have a Durational Item that is active at the time the Cash Shop is closed down, they will receive 100 percent of the value of that item in NX. If you have purchased a stack of Consumable Items, you will receive 100 percent of the value of the remaining items in NX. Please note that this compensation is non-transferable.

Q: Can I transfer my NX to a different account or another player?

A: No, all NX received from this compensation is non-transferable.

Q: Will I receive my compensation in NX Prepaid or NX Credit?

A: You will receive your compensation package in the form of NX Prepaid.

Q: Will my compensation NX expire if it is not used right away?

A: No. Any NX you receive as part of your compensation package will not have an expiration date.

Q: I spent a lot of time developing my character and now you're closing. Can I transfer my skills and character level to another game?

A: No, unfortunately not.

Q: Can I play or transfer my characters to a different region, like Japan?

A: No, unfortunately not.

Q: Is the game ever coming back?

A: There are no plans to bring back DFO in North America.

Yeah, I guess this could happen to CosmicBreak too, especially after seeing them adding bunch of Rt bots in shop(thank you though, I finally bought my dream bot C.S.-chan! #em3).
Since the recent update, it seems like population have increased, but in reality, half of these people are Japanese players who wants to try out different bots, lol.

As sad as this is, I unfortunately saw this coming, mainly due to the fact that DFO didn't get updates or any new info on the website of any kind for a good 5-6 mnths. Add onto the fact that I sorta stopped playing this game for a good year, as the game didn't interest me as much as it used to. Still though, I had some fun times with this game and I'm gonna miss them. RIP in peace DFO ;w;.

I had never heard of that game, but I looked it up on Youtube. It looks like a snazzier version of the old arcade hit Golden Axe. (I actually remember putting quarters into Golden Axe and Golden Axe 2 arcade machines.)

Sadly, though, this is the future of all online games. Not many games are actual "games" anymore, just "services." Hell, the new Sim City won't even run if you aren't connected to the 'net. I learned this lesson after playing Final Fantasy 11 online for years on end. When I lost my job, I couldn't continue to pay for it and had to stop my monthly membership. I had sunk over $700 into the game and had nothing to show for it, not even an offline minigame.

It was then that I decided that spending money on any intangible item is foolhardy. (I've only spent $30 of my own money on this game and I've been here for over two years.)

Every dev had quit by October 2012 and Chinese gold farmers ruined the game's economy beyond repair. Everyone saw it coming.

I remember when those scumbags came to FFXI. Everything in the auction house started to skyrocket in price because of the extra money created and artificially introduced into the game. Chinese people are a disease and a curse upon the internet, just like the Brazilians..

(I learned a lot about game economies from FFXI. Money is either traded to you by other players or created from quests or created from other in game features. Money is then either traded to other players or destroyed by in game fees or destroyed by purchasing things from NPCs. If more money is created than destroyed then the value of items to other players becomes inflated because of the abundance of currency and prices rise. This was one of the reasons I was happy to see the RT weapon garapons. These should lower the prices of bazaarable items due to destroying such a large amount of UC.)

Wait I know what happened nexon,Who am I kidding I saw it coming I was pissed when nexon picked it up cause way back in jr high some one ripped the files to the other game of this series as a flashgame the same as the one on the xbox 360 never had enough time to get to far after class so couldn't tell u if it was the full version or not or just a few levels ripped anyways fell in love with the game learned about the series played dfo soon as it came out in the U.S. even tho I was a huge hater of nexon. To bad nexon SUCKS.

And this is what's happening in Tera right now. The inflation train just keeps on rolling. Except it's not because of Chinese gold farmers, but because EME is terrible company.

Nexon is a bad company, but that doesn't mean DFO is a bad game. Mebe re-think your statement and not make somewhat broad/general statements again. Personally, I couldn't give two fucks about what company was behind my favorite game, I'd still be sad if it got shut down, just like how I feel about DFO.

Huh...guess you have a point. I guess it's better to let a good game in the hands of a bad company rip in peace than to have it continue being run by a bad company as it's just made worse as time passes.
